Bolids ‘2016
[04.08.2016 – Poland]
My first Bolids* at the beginning of my interest in astrophotography. Captured with an industrial CCTV camera pointed at the night sky. Later, reviewing the recordings from the cameras on a video recorder. The cameras used were from Hikvision, which have good capabilities of their matrix at an affordable price.
*- a bolide is a term used to describe an exceptionally bright meteor, which appears as an intensely glowing point moving rapidly across the sky. This phenomenon occurs when fragments of meteoroids, asteroids, or comets enter the Earth’s atmosphere and burn up, creating a brilliant streak of light. Bolides are often brighter than the planet Venus and may sometimes even explode in the atmosphere, producing a bright flash and, in some cases, a sonic boom.
The quality is not great, but it is enough to record the phenomenon and the characteristic shapes and behavior of the fireball in the sky. It did not fly out of the constellation Perseus, so it is not a Perseid, but it is also a nice specimen.
